Memory Dynamics & Sleep Lab

Our laboratory investigates the cognitive and neural mechanisms of learning and memory and their dynamic modulation across both wakefulness and sleep. By combining multi-modal neuroimaging, advanced brain stimulation, and computational modeling, we examine how memory is processed, transformed, and modulated. We also focus on developing real-time brain-state decoding and brain-computer interface (BCI) methods to enable personalized, closed-loop interventions. Ultimately, our research bridges fundamental cognitive neuroscience with translational applications to enhance human cognitive functioning.

We investigate individual differences in emotion and memory across three populations—people with insomnia, older adults, and adolescents with depression—and explore approaches to modulating emotional and memory processes in these groups.

Memory Modulation and Brain–Computer Interfaces

We combine brain stimulation techniques (iES, TI, TUS, and tACS) with brain–computer interfaces (BCIs) to investigate memory modulation and develop personalized closed-loop approaches for sleep and memory.
